Hospice volunteering is one of the most meaningful ways to serve others. When a patient and family enter hospice care, their needs go far beyond medical support they need comfort, dignity, companionship, and peace.The goal of Halcyon volunteer support is to ensure no one walks this journey alone. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality hospice care bringing warmth, dignity, and humanity into every home and every bedside moment. Volunteers are a living expression of that commitment and an essential part of our mission.
Our Volunteer Programs
Our volunteers offer emotional support in ways that create comfort and meaning. We have a variety of roles available.
Companionship
- Friendly companionship and conversation
- Sitting with patients so caregivers can rest
- Reading aloud, listening to music, or sharing memories
- Documenting life stories & photo albums
- Providing calm, attentive presence
Special Events
- Celebration of Life Planning and Production
- Birthday Celebrations Celebrations
- Anniversaries
- Veteran’s Day Ceremonies
Bereavement & Spiritual
- Assist the bereavement coordinators with newsletters and mailings
- Provide support to caregivers and families via phone calls and in-person visits
Hospitality
- Assisting with office or administrative tasks that support patient care
- Offering comfort and kindness to families experiencing grief and loss
Death Doula
- Complete our proprietary Death Doula Training Program
- Help patients identify last wishes and create death plans
- Provide end-of-life support for patients and their families
You Don’t Need Experience
Volunteering in hospice is not about having the perfect words. It’s about showing up with compassion. When you volunteer with Halcyon Hospice, we help identify your strengths and talents and provide the training, guidance, and support you need to feel confident and prepared. We help you develop:
- Hospice volunteer education and orientation
- Skills to communicate with empathy and confidence

Already A Volunteer?
Active volunteers can view and complete an on-line Volunteer Visit Note. The completed form will be submitted to the appropriate Volunteer Coordinator for processing. Please remember to submit your notes within 24 hours after your visit is made to ensure compliance.
